Whole Foods: Balcony Restoration

Situation

Located in North Dallas, Whole Foods epitomizes luxury, health, organic and quality food and health products. The second floor design of the balconies offers a nice place to grab a bite to eat or a cold beverage with a beautiful view of the surrounding area.  The General Contractor was required to raise all the existing drains 3” to meet ADA standards. This unfortunately, created water pooling around the now raised drains. With time of the essence and the store nearly complete, there needed to be a quick turnaround so the store could open on time.

Solution

Advanced Leveling & Concrete Solutions cleaned the exposed concrete surface before applying ARDEX EP-2000 with a sand broadcast before utilizing ARDEX K-301 Exterior Self-Leveler to produce a suitable slope to the drains. Next, ARDEX CD FINE™ was applied to the exterior patio area to produce a new wear layer. It can be applied by trowel, squeegee or hopper gun and can be broom textured before it sets for a reduced-slip surface. In this case, Advanced Leveling & Concrete Solutions utilized a light broom finish. To finish the project, ARDEX CG Concrete Guard™ clear was applied to produce the finished look. This combination of ARDEX Engineered Concrete Repair Systems Products and Advanced Leveling & Concrete Solutions expertise was the perfect, long-term solution for Whole Foods.
